Akson is an assistive application for parents of children with autism and dyslexia, featuring screening tools (autism & dyslexia risk assessment), a therapy playground (image recognition, alphabet learning, audiotherapy), and a simple Q&A chatbot where parents can ask about autism and dyslexia. Validated by child psychologists at Denali Development Center. Developed as a finalist project at GEMASTIK XVI, Indonesia's most prestigious software innovation competition.
10-15% of school children worldwide have dyslexia. 500 children in Indonesia are diagnosed with autism every year.
Of 50 million school children in Indonesia, 5 million have dyslexia—yet it's not even recognized in legislation, often equated with intellectual disability. For autism, the stigma is worse: parents feel embarrassed to check whether their child is autistic because society still labels it a 'mental disorder,' when it's actually a developmental condition with complex causes. We met Mrs. Septi, whose son Fathan showed no pointing gestures at 12 months—she spent months in doubt before getting a diagnosis. Her story became the foundation of Akson.
Dyslexia affects 10-15% of school children worldwide, but in Indonesia it's equated with intellectual disability—there's no legal recognition. Autism prevalence is 1 in 100 children (WHO), with 500 new cases yearly in Indonesia, yet parents feel embarrassed to get their children checked because society mislabels autism as a 'mental disorder.' By the time parents overcome stigma and seek help, critical early intervention windows may have passed.
